Wind damage?

High winds are commonplace in Texas, and can cause serious damage to your roof, even without hail, rain, or other weather elements.  Shingle roofs are at risk for damage when winds reach about 50 mph, and this can result in missing shingles, leaks, and gutter problems. 
 
Winds can also blow debris, causing trees, limbs, and even outdoor furniture to fall or blow onto your roof.  This last week, we inspected a metal roof which sustained damage when winds blew pop-up tents onto the roof. 
 
The peaks, corners, and edges of your roof and ridge line can be particularly susceptible to damage, as high winds can lift and get under the edge of a shingle, breaking down the sealant that lies underneath.  In many cases, shingles tear off completely, as show here on roof we recently inspected.
